Phytic acid (C6H18O24P6) is a natural organic acid with the chemical name of inositol hexaphosphate and CAS number 83-86-3. Its molecular structure contains six phosphate groups and has a strong ability to chelate metal ions. It is naturally present in grains, beans and plant seeds (such as rice bran and wheat bran), and is industrially prepared by extraction from plant raw materials (such as rice bran) or biological fermentation. Phytic acid powder is a white to light yellow crystalline solid with antioxidant, preservative and chelating functions. It is widely used in food, medicine, cosmetics and industrial fields.
