Dioscin (CAS No. : 19057-60-4) is a natural steroidal saponin with the molecular formula C45H72O16 and a molecular weight of 869.05. Anti-cancer activity
It inhibits the proliferation of various cancer cells (such as LNCaP for prostate cancer, HeLa for cervical cancer, and HepG2 for liver cancer) by activating the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway (up-regulating Bax and caspase-3/9, and down-regulating Bcl-2) and blocking the NF-κB signaling pathway.
