Bakuchiol is a natural plant extract derived from the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia. Its chemical name is 4-[(1E,3S)-3-vinyl-3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadienyl]phenol and its molecular formula is C18H24O. Its structure is similar to that of retinol, but it is non-photosensitive and non-irritating. It is known as a "natural retinol substitute" and is widely used in anti-aging skin care products, anti-inflammatory repair and sensitive skin care. It has antioxidant, collagen production promotion and sebum regulation functions.
