Acacia Catechu Extract (catechu extract) is derived from the bark or heartwood of the leguminous plant Acacia catechu and is made through processes such as boiling and concentrating, and drying. Its main active ingredients are Catechin (≥20%), Tannins (≥30%) and Protocatechuic acid, which endow it with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and astringent properties. The product is in the form of dark brown to black powder, readily soluble in water or ethanol, and should be stored away from light and in a cool place.
