Appearance: White to off-white powder

Solubility:

Soluble in cold water to form a transparent or slightly milky colloidal solution, insoluble in hot water and most organic solvents.

The solution will gel at high temperatures (about 50°C or above) and return to liquid after cooling.

 

HPMC is a non-ionic cellulose ether made from natural cellulose chemically modified (methyl and hydroxypropyl substitution), with thickening, bonding, film-forming, water-retaining and other properties, widely used in medicine, food, building materials and daily chemical industries.

Thickening and suspension:
Forming high viscosity colloids in liquids to suspend solid particles (such as coatings, pesticide suspensions).

Bonding and film-forming:
Used as an adhesive for tablet compression, or forming flexible films (such as capsule shells, coating materials).

Water retention and sustained release:
Delaying water evaporation in building materials (such as cement mortar), or controlling the release of active ingredients in drugs.
