thymoquinone is extracted from Nigella sativa. Nigella sativa is an annual herbaceous plant of the Ranunculaceae family. The stems have sparse short hairs and are multi-branched in the middle and upper parts. They can reach a height of 60 cm. The leaves are one or two pinnately deeply lobed, with thin lobes. The leaves are stalked, 2-3 mm long, and the upper part is stalkless.

 

Thymoquinone powder is a phytochemical component naturally found in black cumin seeds. It is also found in the Monarda fistulosa plant cultivated in the United States.
