Vibrant Carmine Natural Red Dye for Food Textiles and Cosmetics
CAS 1390-65-4
1. Cochineal Carmine is an excellent natural food red pigment. It shows bright purplish red in weak acid or neutral environment, but its color changes under alkaline conditions. The maximum absorption of pigment solution at the pH value of 5.7 occurred at 494 nm.
2. The pigment had good storage stability and thermal stability, but poor light stability. After 24 hours of direct sunlight, the pigment retention rate was only 18.4%. In addition, the pigment has weak oxidation resistance and is greatly affected by metal ion Fe3 +. But the reducing substance can protect the color of pigment.
3, Cochineal Carmine is stable to most food additives.
Chemical name: Carminic Acid CAS number: 1260-17-9 (carminic acid); 1390-65-4 (carmine) Molecular formula: C22H20O13 (carminic acid) Appearance: dark red powder or liquid (usually combined with aluminum salts to form lakes). Solubility: Water solubility: easily soluble in acidic conditions (pH < 7), precipitated in neutral or alkaline conditions. Heat resistance: excellent (can withstand high temperature processing). Light stability: good, but will fade if exposed to ultraviolet rays for a long time. Source: Extracted from female cochineal. |
Coloring ability:
Provides bright red to pink (color changes with pH: orange-red in acidic and purple-red in alkaline).
High color value, a small amount can achieve the ideal coloring effect.
Stability:
Better than most natural pigments (such as beetroot red, anthocyanin), suitable for high temperature sterilization, baking and other processes.
Safety:
Approved as a safe pigment by FDA and EFSA for a long time
